Route 18 southbound Exit 19B ramp to Route 34 southbound to be closed and detoured tonight in Colts Neck, Monmouth County

Closures necessary for drainage work

(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced that the Route 18 southbound Exit 19B ramp to Route 34 southbound will be closed and detoured tonight in Colts Neck, Monmouth County.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, November 18, until 5 a.m., Saturday, November 19, NJDOT’s contractor, IEW Construction, is scheduled to close the Route 18 southbound Exit 19B ramp to Route 34 southbound for drainage work. The Route 34 southbound ramp to Route 18 southbound will remain open during construction. The following detour will be in place: 

Route 18 southbound Exit 19B ramp to Route 34 southbound detour:

  • Motorists on Route 18 southbound wishing to take the Exit 19B ramp to Route 34 southbound will be directed to continue on Route 18 southbound
  • Take Exit 19A to Route 34 northbound/Matawan
  • Take the ramp to Route 18 northbound/New Brunswick
  • Take Exit 19B to Route 34 southbound/Point Pleasant


The work is part of a $21.6 million state-funded maintenance project to repair concrete structures at various locations in eight counties throughout North Jersey.
