We would like to extend a warm welcome to all new residents moving into Colts Neck!

The following are some useful tips to ensure you have a smooth transition:

  1. Emergency Services
    • If you have an Emergency, please call 9-1-1 immediately
    • Swift911 Emergency Notification System
      • If you would like to receive notifications from the Township, Police and/or the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) via phone calls, text messages and/or email, please sign up here
    • Colts Neck Police
      • Located at 1 Heritage Lane
      • For non-emergency issues, please contact the Police Department as follows:

    • Colts Neck First Aid Squad
      • This is a volunteer service provided to residents.

    • Colts Neck Fire Department
      • This is a volunteer service provided to residents.

  1. Department of Public Works (DPW)
    • Please refer to the DPW webpage here to obtain information and schedules for the following services provided by the Township:
      • Brush Collection
      • Leaf Collection
      • Snow and Ice Control

  1. Garbage Pick-up
    • The Township does not provide garbage pick-up.
    • You must contract with a private company directly.
  1. Power Outage
  1. Well Water
    • Most Colts Neck homes have well water.
    • Please refer to the Health Department webpage here for additional information.
    • NOTE:  If there’s a power outage and you don’t have a generator, you will not have running water.
      • Stock up on bottled water in advance of a storm to be used for drinking and cooking.
      • Fill up your bathtub and/or containers with tap water to be used for flushing toilets.
  1. Septic Systems
    • Most Colts Neck homes have septic systems which need to be pumped out periodically.
    • Please contact the Health Officer, Thomas Frank, in the Health Department prior to doing any renovations to your septic system to determine permit requirements:

  1. Tax Assessor
    • Please contact the Tax Assessor, William Laird, if you have any questions regarding the assessed value of your property which is used to calculate your annual property taxes:

  1. Tax Collector’s Department
    • Please contact the Tax Collector, John Antonides or the Deputy Tax Collector, Cheryl Houss, to obtain a property tax bill for the year:
    • Tax bills are sent out once a year in July.
    • Property taxes are payable quarterly on the following dates:
      • February 1
      • May 1
      • August 1
      • November 1
  • Confirm your mailing address to ensure all future tax correspondence gets sent to the correct address.
