Grace Period Extension for 2024 Third Quarter Property Taxes
Dear Taxpayer,
Enclosed please find your final 2024 and preliminary 2025 property tax bill. Due to the delay in the State’s verification of the tax rate, the tax bills could not be mailed within the State Statute guidelines of at least 25 days prior to the due date of the third quarter. (NJ 54: 4-64).
As a result, the grace period for your third quarter property tax payment has been extended to Thursday, August 29th, 2024. However, if your payment is received after August 29th, interest will be charged back to August 1st at a rate of 8% for the first $1500 delinquency and 18% for any remaining dollar amount above $1500.
For those paying by ACH, funds will be withdrawn from your account on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024.
For your convenience, all tax payments can be left at the Township’s drop box, located next to the front doors of Town Hall. It is only to be used when our office is closed. If your payment is late, please stop in or call our office for the correct delinquent amount. Any payments left in the overnight box are posted as of the next business day, including any outstanding interest. Please do not leave any cash or other Township items in this mail slot. It is to be used strictly for tax payments.
If you are interested in participating in our automatic debit payment option, please complete the form found on the Township’s website, along with a voided check and return it to our office no later than 30 days prior to the next tax quarter. There is currently no fee for this service. If you are already enrolled, it is not necessary to submit an additional form, unless your banking information has changed and our records need to be updated. Furthermore, please notify the tax collector immediately if the property has been sold or is about to be sold so that we may accurately revise our files. As stated in the ACH debit agreement, funds must be available on the fifth day of the tax quarter, regardless of an extension in the grace period.
Finally, credit cards will now be accepted for property tax payments through the Township’s website. Access is available online at www.coltsneck.org. Please click on the link found on the home page under Pay Property Taxes Online to process your payment. This link can be searched by last name, address or block and lot. The following transaction fees apply: credit card or debit card: 2.95% of transaction amount, e-check: flat fee of $1.95 per transaction.
If you should require any further assistance, please contact our office at (732) 462-5470, extension 2.
Very truly yours,
John D. Antonides
